A Message from the Headteacher

Welcome to St Peter & St Paul Carbrooke Church of England Primary Academy and Nursery.

Summer Term 2024

As your Headteacher it pleases me greatly to be in post and working with some fantastic children, staff and governors. I look forward to meeting you and working with you also, as we head towards our very exciting future together. The personal approach we embrace is about valuing all of God’s children, individually, and how we work together harmoniously for the greater good of all.

Our school has a fabulous history around it, and the strong links with the community and the church will be evident through all that we do. We communicate regularly with our Academy Trustees, Local Governing Body, parents, staff and most importantly the children. The children take part in daily collective worship and participate in making decisions and reporting to various stakeholders. The school council works with us in making our school a happy, thriving place to be.

Our aims and values can be found within this new look website, and hopefully there is all the information you need here. Our values and vision are at the heart of all we do and believe in. This is linked to 'Fruit of the Spirit':

Galatians 5:22-23 

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

This passage embraces the social, moral, spiritual and cultural journey that children and adults work by every single day. The biblical text supports all that we do and this is evident within the school.

We welcome ideas, feedback and proactivity. If you have something, some time or some ideas you can contribute, please let us know. We are introducing ‘You Said… We Did’ – our way of taking on board everything from compliments and complaints, and giving you feedback around this. Please look out for ways you can contribute.

Our Academy Trust, Diocese of Norwich Education Academy Trust (DNEAT), take part in our daily work, and I am thrilled to be working with colleagues within our school, across our cluster and the wider academy group.

We welcome visitors, and when you sign in you will be asked to read through a guidance document about safety, including safeguarding, and our expectations. A copy can be found here also. This will tell you who to share concerns with if you have any. This document can be viewed here.

Safeguarding Children

St Peter & St Paul Carbrooke Church of England Primary Academy and Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the policies section on our website.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies, when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.

We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.  

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Hannah Wheeler (Headteacher). Our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead is Ms Cooper (Year 5 Teacher/Deputy Head) and Mrs Schofield is the alternate. The Governor with responsibility for safeguarding in our school is Sonya Kuzmic.
