Starling Class 2025/2026
Children in year 5 are members of Starling Class. They are taught by Miss Harvey and supported in their learning by Mrs Marchesi.

Our topic for Spring 2 is 'The Space Race'.
In our English lessons, we will be reading 'The Jamie Drake Equation' by Christopher Edge and we will be writing information texts and poems about space and the planets.
In maths we will be learning about: decimals and percentages; perimeter and area and finally statistics.
Our history topic will be based on looking at 'The Space Race'. We will learn why it happened and the details of it.
In science we will be studying 'Earth and space'. We will be be looking at the different planets in our solar system and explaining how night and day works.
In our RE lessons, we will be looking at Christiantity and answering the question 'Why do Christians think being a pilgrim is a good analogy for life itself?'

PE:
This half term, we will be doing PE on Tuesday afternoons. Children will need to come to school wearing their PE kits.
Forest Schools:
Forest Schools will occur on Thursday afternoons. Please ensure the children are dressed appropriately for the weather and bring sensible shoes/ wellies.
